We will strengthen immigrant parents' and families' awareness of anti-racism measures and integrate it into their parental practices with their children.
We will also strengthen cultural sensitivity and raise awareness of racism among young people in local communities and raise awareness at local level.
Organization partners
Five of Monihel's member associations join the anti-racism project funded by the Ministry of Justice: Ad Astra, AFAES (Africans and African-Europeans Associations), Mirsal ry, Kulttuurikeskus Ninho ry and the Peace and Welfare Association (RAHY ry). Below is a description of their work and how it relates to anti-racism work.
Ad Astra
Ad Astra believes that today's children need the tools to face new cultures every day in order to grow up to be confident and happy adults. Inclusion, experiential learning, drama, crafts and a culture of effective dialogue are at the heart of Ad Astra's work. Ad Astra supports schools, pre-schools, kindergartens, teacher training and young people by helping them to build skills in the areas of interaction, multiculturalism, anti-racism and religion.
AFAES
Africans and African-Europeans Association
AFAES acts as an advocate for both African and European interests.
AFAES has a broad coverage of the vast multicultural continent of Africa. Multiculturalism and open-mindedness are taken into account in all our activities.
Mirsal ry
Our organisation carries out lobbying on workers' rights. We fight against labour exploitation experienced by migrants. We fight against stereotypes faced by migrants in general, for example through our voluntary fashion shows in 2020 and 2019. We fight to promote equality among migrants and fight to make the voice of Arab women strongly heard, showing that Arab women are not inferior to any other woman or man in the world.
Rauhan ja hyvinvoinnin järjestö
Peace and Well-being organisation
Peace and Wellbeing was founded in 2019 by university students with a strong background in youth and women's conditions. It is an active organisation that aims to improve the living conditions of women and young people by providing opportunities in Finland and Europe, and to combat institutional racism in educational institutions.
