The Week Against Racism took place on 18th-24th March 2024. This year's theme was intervening in racism.

An online anti-racism workshop organised by the Kumppanuudessa project explored the nature of racism and developed strategic skills for anti-racist communication. The training provided perspectives, knowledge, and tools for anti-racism action.

The trainer was teacher and researcher Leonardo Custódio from Åbo Akademi. He spoke of how marginalised, discriminated, and underprivileged people use means of communication for human rights, social justice, and respect. Participants learned about the broad impact of racism on individuals and society. The dynamics of racism can be complex and take different forms, such as systemic discrimination, microaggressions and stereotypes.

The workshop was organised in cooperation with the Finnish Red Cross.

The secrets of effective and equal partnership in promoting integration

Take your organisation to the next level and find out the secrets of an equal, open and effective partnership in promoting integration!

How to find the right partner and meet them halfway? On what terms to act and how to avoid pitfalls?

Participants in the training will receive practical tips on how to build and nurture a genuine partnership that benefits both partners and supports their own work.

The training will be implemented in Finnish and will consist of lectures, group discussions and workshops. The training is free of charge and includes coffee and snacks. The trainers are Margarita Sakilayan-Latvala and Melis Arı-Gürhanlı.

Come and network around themes of integration with field experts!

The Cooperation Fair brought together different actors from the field of integration, from large-scale NGOs to grassroots volunteer-based associations, as well as representatives from the public sector, to discuss relevant issues that are currently shaping our communities.

Through thematic discussions, participants not only had the opportunity to voice their opinions and experiences but also engaged in meaningful encounters within the discussion rooms, expanding their networks in the process. By interacting in collaborative discourse, the participants were able to actively contribute to the themes. The Cooperation Fair not only facilitated exposure to fellow attendees but also enabled associations to establish connections with the broader network, emphasizing the value and benefits of collective effort within the field.

Useful links

The Integration Partnership supports the effectiveness of integration and social inclusion work by bringing actors together and increasing multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder cooperation.

Promoting immigrant integration and a receptive society requires the participation and work of everyone – communities, associations, the authorities, companies and municipalities. This work is effective when we perform it together – also online.
