STEA has published the 2024 grant recipients on Friday 1.12. Read here for an overview of what the decisions look like from the perspective of Moniheli and our network.

New Ak activity for Moniheli as the DigiUp project becomes continuously funded

After the grant decisions, most of the activities of Moniheli will continue unchanged. The biggest and most welcome change is the continuation of the DigiUp project, which will end in 2023, as an Ak-funded activity. DigiUp will strengthen multicultural digital inclusion by providing low-threshold advice to organisations and training digital support specialists in a culturally sensitive approach.

The core activities of Moniheli will continue with three employees, and will continue to be strengthened with the help of the Paikka Auki funding. The Katto programme will also continue with a team of three.

The total amount of the Moniheli Grant is 120 000€ in 2024. The grant is applicable to all our members.

The network benefits from capacity building

Long-term work to develop the skills of associations is producing results. Over the last two years, Moniheli members have received a significant amount of new funding. In addition to C-project funding, our members now also receive Ak funding on a permanent basis. This means more well-founded activities and more stability for the organisations. Ten years ago, this would have been unheard of for the Moniheli network.

Tieto on Valtaa rywas awarded Ak funding for the first time. Samha ry will also continue its activities with the support of the Ak funding received last year.

Three of Moniheli's member associations received funding from STEA for the first time: Heed Association Finland, Galmudug Community Finland ry and Fenix Finland ry.

All three associations have previously received a Moniheli grant. The aim of the Moniheli grant is to develop the skills of associations to apply for larger grants, so we are very pleased with this result.

New models and good practices are created and disseminated within the Moniheli network. This is now also visible at STEA level, as Tieto on Valtaa ry continues the work started by Mirsal ry with its own language group. For the first time, we have also managed to transfer a project from Moniheli to a member association. The Terkku project, which was implemented in Moniheli in 2020-2022, will now continue under HEED Finland ry under the name Health is wealth – terveys on rikkautta for 2024-26.

Moniheli would like to congratulate its members for their great work. The learning of new skills, especially in describing and reporting activities and planning projects, has paid off. It is really great that the work of multicultural associations is rising to a level where results are clearly measurable and verifiable, and representation among experts and service providers is developing.

Work to build an equal Finland continues

We would like to thank STEA for their good cooperation. Although not all of our applications and those of our network were successful, the feedback received is clear and well-founded. Clear criteria will help us and our network to develop our activities in the future and to assess the suitability of different funding sources for our activities. Member associations - please contact us at a low threshold if you would like to go through the feedback received on your applications. We are here for you!
