The Office of the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman (YVV) has an Non-Discrimination Advisory Board, which is appointed by the Government for a period of three years at a time.
The Advisory Board is responsible for promoting equality in general, acting as a channel for dialogue and exchange of information between those working to prevent discrimination and dealing with equality issues. The Advisory Board is composed of relevant actors in the field of preventing discrimination and promoting equality. It is an autonomous and independent body.
Commenting on the significance of the decision for the Moniheli network, Abdirahim Hussein, Executive Director of Moniheli, said:
"We take seriously our role as representatives of minorities and the trust they place in us. We will take their voices, worries and concerns to YVV. We will also like to open up the YVV to the migrant community and show case what YVV really does and how effective this could be."
