The OmaPolku pilot training on culturally sensitive guidance was completed in early October. Overall, it was a success. The study counsellors learned new things, we heard interesting perspectives and collected good feedback, writes Sara Herrala, manager of the OmaPolku project.

Moniheli ry:n, Sininauhasäätiön ja VVA ry:n sekä Suomen Vuokranantajien yhteistyössä toteuttaman kyselyn tulokset yksityisten vuokranantajien vuokralaisvalinnasta kertovat, että Suomeen muualta muuttaneet ovat epäedullisessa asemassa vuokramarkkinoilla sekä ulkomaalaistaustansa että muiden päällekkäisten, syrjinnälle altistavien tekijöiden vuoksi. ”Syrjintä on laissa kielletty ja siihen pitää puuttua”, vaatii Moniheli ry:n toiminnanjohtaja Abdirahim Hussein järjestöjen yhteisessä kannanotossa.

The corona pandemic has had many obvious effects on our lives, but it also highlighted hidden challenges. Many events moved online and people shut themselves away in their homes, relying on electronic means. For us at Moniheli, this highlighted the need for multilingual communication from the authorities, the challenges of mental wellbeing and mental health, as well as the accessibility of online services and people’s digital skills.
