Kanun began its activities in 2003 when Afghan volunteers wanted to establish their own association to gain a foothold in Finnish society. At that time, there were very few Afghans in Finland.
Over the years, Kanun has organised various trainings and seminars, particularly related to education and integration. The organisation has also collaborated with authorities, such as the police and the Finnish Immigration Service.
Maintaining and teaching our native language is a top priority, which is why our organisation regularly offers weekly language classes for children, run by volunteers. To preserve Afghan culture, Kanun has organised celebrations, such as Eid and Nowruz, whenever possible.
