When we decided to register Nûjîn with my friends, our goal was to prevent our Kurdish community from losing its identity in the new society. While we certainly encourage Kurdish women to integrate into Finnish society, we also strive to preserve our culture and language, which will ensure the continuity of our community across generations. We draw inspiration from Finnish society’s experience in maintaining its identity despite the wars it has faced. In the experiences of Finnish women, we found a great example of how family, culture, and language cohesion can be preserved across generations.
