The Middle Eastern Women’s Association in Finland (Lähi-idän naisten yhdistys ry) is dedicated to improving the lives of women, children, men, and young girls in many ways – by empowering them to succeed in Finnish society, strengthening their cultural identity, and building a communal and supportive environment together in Finland.

Founded on 3 April 2018 in Tampere.

We empower women, families, and youth with migrant backgrounds to thrive in Finnish society while preserving cultural identity.

  • Mission: Low-threshold support in Arabic/Kurdish/Persian/Finnish to strengthen everyday life skills and sense of belonging.
  • Vision 2028: A nationally respected actor, the most trusted integration partner in Pirkanmaa, and an attractive employer that advances participation.
  • Activities: Language and learning groups, school support for children and youth, cultural & art workshops, cooking, sports and women/girls’ swimming, parenting groups, career guidance (CV/jobs/studies), and open community events.
  • Partners: City & University of Tampere, PIRHA, KV-Martat, Monika-Naiset, Moniheli, Suomen Pakolaisapu, and more.
  • Annual reach: Over 1,800 participants across activities; around 90 member families.
