Helsinki Region Cyclists was founded in 1981 and is a local advocacy organisation for cyclists. Its mission is to promote safe and convenient cycling and to improve the position of cyclists in traffic and society. The association is politically non-aligned.
The organisation promotes cycling primarily as a mode of transport in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Its advocacy work focuses on influencing the planning, construction, and maintenance of cycling infrastructure to improve traffic safety. In addition, Helsinki Region Cyclists organises free cycling tours, which have been a central part of its activities since the association was founded. Since 2020, it has also organised basic cycling courses for adults.
