Cofas Hoiva ry is a community-based movement dedicated to passionately serve. We are known for our strong commitment to empower local women to speak out against gender-based violence, which is a barrier to sustainable community development. We build the capacity of local citizens to effectively prevent and respond to GBV in all its forms.
Our interest is deeply rooted within gender-based violence happening in families that has led to broken family ties in Finland leading to children of African origin being taken by foster homes and parents. This phenomenon has created mental instabilities in both the children and their parents. Cofas envisions creation of a safe spaces where cultural diversities can be explored though information, communication, education on human rights, mental and physical health, sexual health and rights which would eventually lead to understanding of positive coexistence between the immigrants and their host country.
