Our work focuses on strengthening youth participation, community building and creating safer and braver spaces where all young people can feel seen, valued and accepted as they are, regardless of their background or identity. We believe young people should not have to shrink themselves to belong, but instead have opportunities to express themselves freely, grow with confidence and actively shape their communities and society.
HangFlow ry’s activities are rooted in non-formal education, peer learning and participatory methods. Through creative, community-based and youth-led activities, young people develop important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, problem-solving and active citizenship while building meaningful and safe connections with others.
A key part of our work is the safe young adult model. Our volunteer youth workers act as trusted, approachable and supportive young adults who provide guidance, encouragement and safe human connection for young people in different life situations. This approach helps strengthen resilience, wellbeing, self-confidence and trust.
We also carry out preventive youth work and openly address difficult but important topics such as bullying, violence, mental health, racism, discrimination, and gender and sexual diversity. By challenging harmful norms and breaking social taboos, we create spaces where young people can safely share experiences, discuss social issues and make their voices heard. HangFlow ry works locally, nationally and internationally in cooperation with communities, organisations and projects that strengthen youth voices, participation and social impact.
