Aurora Math ry is a newly established non-profit association from Espoo, created to make mathematics and STEM subjects more visible, inspiring and accessible for families and children in Finland. Our work focuses on science education, early motivation, and equality of learning opportunities. We organise free public STEM festivals, hands-on workshops, thematic events and community-based activities that encourage curiosity, problem-solving and positive learning experiences.
Our main initiative is EO STEM Jam, a family-friendly science and mathematics festival that has already gathered more than 300 families in Helsinki. The programme combines playful learning, multilingual support, practical experiments, and guided activities led by trained volunteers and young mentors. Children of different ages can choose tasks at various difficulty levels and explore science in an encouraging, inclusive environment.
The association works closely with educators, schools, volunteers and local communities. Our activities support children from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds and offer parents tools to engage with their children’s learning. We also collaborate with teachers and educational experts to develop new formats of science outreach and to ensure that our events remain pedagogically meaningful and accessible to all.
Aurora Math ry aims to expand its activities across Finland and to provide equal access to high-quality STEM experiences, especially for families who may not have access to extracurricular learning. Our vision is to strengthen scientific curiosity, confidence and community participation through approachable, enjoyable and well-designed STEM education events.
