The aim is to provide safe environments for all as we do not tolerate harassment of any form.<\/div><\/div><div><div><p>The safer principles apply to all employees, interns, board members and other representatives of the organisation. Additionally, they apply to Moniheli\u2019s partners with whom the events are co-organised and to all participants. The participants agree to  follow the principles when registering to the event.<\/p><p>The last update of the principles was done in 1.2026. Principles are updated regularly once a year by the members of the Occupational Safety representatives of Moniheli ry.<\/p><p>We apologize if, regardless of our best efforts, someone experiences offends or discrimination on our event. In such case, we encourage everyone getting in touch with the appointed Safety Officer. We will provide all necessary support.<\/p><p>Anyone who violates these principles may be sanctioned by Moniheli ry or asked to leave the Moniheli\u2019s event or space.<\/p><h2 style=\"margin-top: 30px; margin-bottom: 20px;\">What is considered harassment in Moniheli<\/h2><p>Harassment is an act of unwanted and unwelcome actions of an individual or a group against another individual or group. Harassment often occurs as a result of discrimination based e.g. on origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, race, age, sex, class or disability.<\/p><p>Harassment can be verbal, non-verbal, physical or sexual behaviour that is supposed to threaten, coerce, silence, or intimidate someone consciously, or unconsciously.<\/p><p>Harassment includes but is not limited to:<\/p><ul><li>Offensive or unwelcome comments, including epithets, insults, negative stereotyping, and offensive remarks disguised as humour, based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, or physical appearance.<\/li><li>Distribution, display, or discussion of written or graphic material that ridicules, insults, or shows hostility or disrespect toward an individual or group because of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, or physical appearance.<\/li><li>Deliberate \u201couting\u201d of any aspect of a person\u2019s identity without their consent.<\/li><li>Deliberate misgendering or use of rejected names or pronounces.<\/li><li>Intimidation or silencing, including sustained and deliberate disruption of discussion.<\/li><li>Threats of violence or encouragement of violence, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.<\/li><li>Stalking or following, including repeated one-on-one communication despite requests to stop, unwanted photography or recording, and tracking and logging online activity without consent.<\/li><li>Unwelcome sexual attention, including suggestive comments, jokes of a sexual nature, sexual propositions, lewd remarks and obscene gestures, and requests for sexual favours (including repeated and unwelcome requests for dates).<\/li><li>Distribution, display, or discussion of any sexually suggestive written or graphic \nmaterial, including emails, photos, text messages, and tweets, that is needless, off-topic, or shows hostility or disrespect toward an individual or group. (Such material can be displayed only for the training purposes if there is no other option, and participants must be notified before displaying of such context).<\/li><li>Unwelcome physical contact including inappropriate touching, tickling, pinching, petting, brushing up against, hugging, cornering, kissing, fondling, and forced sexual intercourse or assault.<\/li><li>Attempts at intimidation, retaliation or revenge to someone who has filed or responded to a report of discrimination or harassment, appeared as a witness in the processing of a report or served as a coordinator of a report.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">Encourage or assist violations of these principles.<\/li><\/ul><h2 style=\"margin-top: 30px; margin-bottom: 20px;\">Moniheli as an event organiser<\/h2><p>Ensures that:<\/p><ul><li>Everyone is welcomed in an event as they are.<\/li><li>The event is organised in accessible spaces and communicated in an accessible way. If someone needs assistance to participate, Moniheli will do the best to meet the needs.<\/li><li>Participants, speakers and facilitators will be informed on the safer event principles when registering and must agree to follow them.<\/li><li>In the case of disturbances during the event, they will be immediately addressed.<\/li><li>It is agreed within the organizing team before the event what are the consequences of violating the principles (e.g. blocking the access to the ongoing or future events, people will not be allowed to continue the participation, etc.)<\/li><li>The feedback form will have a section where participants can comment on safety during the events.<\/li><li>The feedback will be anonymous, but participants will be asked to kindly provide contact information if they faced or witnessed any situation that need further investigation.<\/li><li>If pictures or videos are taken during the event, inform all participants about it in advance.<\/li><li>The wishes of those who do not wish to be filmed or photographed are respected.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">There is an appointed Safety officer who is clearly identified, and whose contact information are available for everyone participating in the event.<\/li><\/ul><h2 style=\"margin-top: 30px; margin-bottom: 20px;\">Participants of the events organised by Moniheli<\/h2><p>We ask participants to:<\/p><ul><li>Come to an event understanding their social position in relation to the event\u2019s topics.<\/li><li>Respect other people, their experience and identity.<\/li><li>Not make assumptions about others and their situation.<\/li><li>Talk with others kindly and with respect.<\/li><li>Ensure that everyone can speak and be heard in the discussion.<\/li><li>Try to use language that is understandable to all participants. Try simplify their language if needed.<\/li><li>Respect each other\u2019s boundaries.<\/li><li>Do not use personal remarks towards those present or absent from the event.<\/li><li>Stop their behaviour if they are asked to do so..<\/li><li>Ask for permission before taking photographs or recording videos, and respect people's decisions.<\/li><li>Feel free to provide constructive feedback if they witness inappropriate behaviour or language.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.<\/li><\/ul><h2 style=\"margin-top: 30px; margin-bottom: 20px;\">Our response to the notification of violation the principles<\/h2><ol style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><li style=\"margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\"><strong> We work to stabilize the situation<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>As soon as we get information about a possible violation of the Safer event principles, we will take any steps necessary to ensure the safety of the reporting individual(s), which may include:<\/p><ul><li>separating the survivor(s) and object(s) of the report;<\/li><li>taking the survivor(s) to a safe location;<\/li><li>calling law enforcement, medical services, and other emergency services if needed;<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">and\/or asking the object of the report to leave the premises.<\/li><\/ul><ol style=\"font-weight: bold;\" start=\"2\"><li style=\"margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\"><strong> We initiate the review and response process<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>After stabilizing the situation, and as soon as possible, our Safety Officer will initiate the response process by contacting the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC). The OHSC will review the information that we have received, including determining whether we need additional information.<\/p><ol style=\"font-weight: bold;\" start=\"3\"><li style=\"margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\"><strong> We determine what action is needed<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>After carefully considering factors such as the content, nature, and threat level of the incident, and evaluating the available information, we will determine a course of action, including deciding whether and which remedy is appropriate. Such decision is left to the Moniheli\u2019s Board, on the basis of the proposal from the OHSC.<\/p><p>Potential remedies include:<\/p><ul><li>warnings;<\/li><li>denying funding and support;<\/li><li>removing a speaker from an event;<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">or banning a participant from future events.<\/li><\/ul><p>If a remedy or the timing of it puts the safety and confidentiality of the reporting individual(s)\/survivor(s) at risk, our team will take that into consideration and prioritize preventing further harm.<\/p><p>Moniheli will recommend support services for those victimised by harassment and\/or violence in our spaces.<\/p><h2 style=\"margin-top: 30px;
