OmaPolku project is looking for a project coordinator for its last year of operation.

Moniheli is a Finnish multicultural network which includes over a hundred member organisations. We support immigrant, integration and social inclusion and advance equity.

OmaPolku is Moniheli’s three-year project funded by STEA which aims to advance equity in education for youth with an immigrant background. The key aim of the project is that immigrant youth could better identify secondary education that corresponds their strengths and interests and would receive the support they need to choose their study paths.

The project aims to strengthen the capacities of immigrant parents to support their child and strengthen the culturally sensitive skills of study counsellors to face youth with an immigrant background and their parents in the work. In addition, another goal for the project is to develop the interaction and cooperation between immigrant parents and study counsellors at the time when the young person is planning and choosing their study path after basic school. The activities of the project include peer activities for immigrant parents in their own languages, a pilot training for study counsellors and cooperation forums.

OmaPolku is looking for

The OmaPolku project is now looking for a project coordinator for the final year of the project to be responsible for coordinating peer support activities in Uusimaa. OmaPolku project will apply for permanent funding for its operation during the last year of the project. The work will begin on January 3, 2022 or as agreed.

Project coordinator duties include:

  • Coordination of peer support activities and organization of peer support events in Uusimaa
  • Responsible for partnerships related to peer support activities
  • Tasks related to communication and marketing of peer support activities
  • Guide, support and supervise the work of peer tutors
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of peer tutors
  • Participate in the planning and development of peer support activities
  • Participate in the implementation of cooperation forums

 

The project coordinator we are looking for has:

  • Experience in similar project work (preferably in STEA-funded projects)
  • Suitable education for the position (at least university of applied science level)
  • Experience of working in a multicultural work community
  • Experience in social media communication
  • Good Finnish and English skills (oral and written), other languages are a plus
  • Independent and flexible approach to work
  • Good networking, interaction and presentation skills
  • Good organizational skill and ability to work under pressure
  • Good IT skills
