Peer activities
Peer support activities for immigrant parents in their native language
One of the OmaPolku project's activities is peer-to-peer activities for migrant parents in their own language. The peer-to-peer activities are conducted in Arabic, Dari, English, Kurdish, French, Somali and Russian.
The peer-to-peer activities allow parents to discuss, for example, the Finnish education system, secondary education options, ways in which parents can support their young person in choosing an education path or career, the importance of interaction and cooperation between home and school, and what is important for parents to know when the compulsory school age in Finland reaches 18.
Forms of peer activities within the project:
- Peer groups
- Pop-up briefings
- Parent - teacher meetings
- Individual peer support and advice
Peer activities are held in Uusimaa, Turku, Tampere and Lappeenranta.
You can follow the OmaPolku project peer activities on the project's Facebook page.
