Culture-sensitive guidance: tools for cooperation between home and school

What is culture-sensitive guidance? How do you organise a successful joint application-themed evening for immigrant parents and develop cooperation between home and school?

Friday 14.10. at 9-11 and Friday 28.10. at 9-11

Zoom

Sign up for the two-day training in cultural sensitive counselling! The training is aimed at secondary school counsellors who need support and new ideas for culturally sensitive counselling. Please note that the training is in Finnish only!

Guidance counsellors who have completed the training understand why cultural sensitivity is an important part of guidance work and home-school cooperation. Participants will be equipped with tools to better take into account young people from different cultural backgrounds and their families in their guidance work.

Participation in the training does not require extensive prior knowledge of culturally sensitive guidance.

Registration

The registration period is 5.8.-5.10.2022. 50 participants will be admitted. By registering, you commit to attend both training days. The training is free of charge. Registration is via the link below (IN FINNISH ONLY):

Timing and implementation

Theme: Joint application parents' evening

Friday 28.10. at 9-11 am
Theme: cooperation between home and school

The two-day training is a coherent whole. It is therefore important that you commit to attending both days of the training.

Trainers

The facilitators of the training are guidance experts Matleena Kosonen Holdgaard and Karoliina Peltola who are familiar with the theme of cultural sensitivity in the Ohjausosuuskunta Ote. Get to know the trainers here: Keitä olemme? — Ohjausosuuskunta Ote (ohjausote.com).

Organisers and added information:

Moniheli's OmaPolku project organises the training in cooperation with the Ohjausosuuskunta Ote. It is a continuation of a pilot training in 2021, which has been praised.
